About SGI
SGI is an older image format from Silicon Graphics (IRIX) computers. You’ll mostly use it to open or convert old project images into modern formats for easy viewing and sharing.
•Keeps the original image quality from legacy files.
•Some SGI images can include transparency.
•Not widely supported on phones or web browsers, so converting to PNG or JPEG is usually best for sharing.
•Many desktop tools can both open SGI files and save them to other formats (and back).
•Great for working with archives from classic 3D, VFX, or design projects.
•Files can be larger than modern formats, so they may take more storage space.
