About PIX
PIX is an older image format used by Alias/Wavefront graphics programs. You’ll mostly see it when opening old 3D projects or texture files that you want to convert to a modern format.
•Best for opening legacy images and converting them to common formats like PNG, JPEG, or TIFF.
•Not widely supported today, so you may need a special viewer or a conversion tool to open it.
•Usually read-only in modern apps—you can open and export it, but you typically can’t save new .pix files.
•Helpful for rescuing and preserving the original look of textures and artwork from older projects.
•When converting, pick PNG for high quality and wide support, JPEG for smaller file sizes, or TIFF for long‑term archiving.
